City of Concord, NC

Website Development

Main Street downtown Concord NC

Concord hails as the 10th most populous city in the state of North Carolina, the largest city in Cabarrus County, and the county seat.

The City’s website contained a wealth of information for its citizens, but its dated, disorganized design made it difficult to navigate.

Working with the team at Granite Sky Creative Group, I wire-framed a more intuitive arrangement for the site content. Then, I designed a clean but colorful layout incorporating all the City’s requested features, including graphic links for the most frequently visited pages, news features, and dropdown megamenus. Because the existing site was built on the open-source content management platform DotNetNuke (DNN), we were able to reorganize and reskin the site without having to migrate all its contents. Lead developer Sam Blair coded the new skin based on the prototype I built in Adobe XD.

The website recently won top honors at the NC3C awards in 2022.

What I Did:

The website featured a slide-out, side-panel menu for the most popular links, demonstrated above, and dropdown megamenus for the main navigation, shown below right.
